"Resistance to Renewal"

Spiritual progress rarely comes without opposition, and the Book of Ezra makes that unmistakably clear. When the Israelites began rebuilding the temple, enemies appeared first with false friendship and then with legal obstruction, eventually halting the work for more than a decade. God raised up the prophets Haggai and Zechariah to call the people back to obedience, and when they rose up and built again, God's protection covered them. The opposition that once tried to stop the work ultimately ended up funding it. One of the most striking lessons from Ezra is that obedience came before revival, not after. Faithful stewardship, including how we give, is not a footnote to spiritual renewal but often a catalyst for it. The same God who moved in Ezra's day is still moving today, and the question for every believer is whether we will rise up and build.
